We have a small Definity with 2 trunk groups (one of type isdn, the other of type co). We are considering reducing the number of trunks in the second trunk group. So we would like to temporarly disable some of them to make sure nothing bad happens.

As I understand it, the command to do this is "busyout trunk", but I only see "mis" as an option to the "busyout" command. More reading has led me to believe that a 'maintenance' login is required to busyout a trunk. However the only logins on the box are customer/super-user ones.

So am I screwed, or just missing something obvious to everyone else?

If you have a cust logon ID, try using the command under that ID, instead of your own superuser ID's.

I have tried the cust login, but the 'busyout trunk' is not there.

If you can't busyout, I would remove the ports from the trunk group temporarily to see how things run. If you need to you just add them back in.

take two of these and call me in the morning

Try the busy board command for all of the boards within the trunk group then release the boards when you've finished

I've just tried the busyout command on a site with a S8700 and only get mis or processor-ip-interface but if I try it on a definity R9 I can busyout just about everything and have a super user login for both!!!!

There is no "busy board" command.

This is on a
System: G3csiV9 Software Version: G3V9i.02.0.033.2

I have not tried removing the trunks from the trunk group. I may try that later today or tomorrow

You dont have the MSP's You will find them in system customer options. The look like this:

Processor and System MSP? y
Station and Trunk MSP? y

To turn them on call your Avaya Sales Rel or BP and pay the $60.00. There will worth the money

Hope this helps

1a2 to ip I seen it all

If the co trunk is only for backup, u can always just back the board out of the carrrier, although I don't advise that. U should be able to remove the ports as suggested before. Also U could use the " list measurements" commands to find out if the trunk is being used. 'list measurements trunk today" is the command I believe to see if the trunks are ever busy. ('all trunks busy'=atb on the far right of the screen) There is also 'list measuremenst light used trunks". Hit the 'help' key to get the exact command.(My fingers know the commands, but they won't tell me them, they only type them in when I am logged into a pbx.;-P )
U mentioned that u were going to reduce the co trunks and that is a good idea instead of getting rid of them, even if they cost more in most cases. No pbx should be dependant on just one trunk group, especially one T-1, cuz when they go down it is usually the whole trunk. They u have to fight with the carrier and Avaya on who is to blame.
