I have a user that has the Browse in same window option grayed out. YOu can not click on this option. Does anyone know a way to get this option enabled so you can click on it.

Is it the check box for "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts" that you are referring to?

If it is, is it just one check box or are all of the check boxes inaccessible?

Maybe there is some Group Policy, or a third party security type program, that is preventing access.

This may give you the registry key to look at.

Description of the Reuse Windows for Launching Shortcuts Setting in Internet Explorer 5.01

This talks about Spyware and also mentions Yahoo Toolbars etc.

Cannot Launch EI in Multiple Processes Anymore

No, the check box is for "Browse in same window" you can get to this option by going to Windows Explorer -- Tools -- Folder Options -- File Types, then you pick the file extension you want to change, example PPT. Select Advanced and you will see the option at the bottom.

On this particular machine the "Browse in same window" is disabled, not allowing the user to select this option.

Browse in same window - Specifies that you always want files of this type to open in the existing window instead of opening another window.

On the machine I checked most of the file types have this option grayed out and inaccessible. The file type PPT did however have this option available for selection.

It might be controlled on the availability of any plugin used by IE? Or perhaps the advanced settings for IE such as "Enable third-party browser extensions" or possibly any settings under "Multimedia". Maybe there is some Group Policy, or a third party security type program, that is preventing access. Or even some Preference set in Power Point itself?

Some information is available in this older article.

How to configure Internet Explorer to open Office documents in the appropriate Office program instead of in Internet Explorer

Have you looked around Google?

As this seems to be a process used with Microsoft Office programs you may have some luck in the Office Forum.

I have looked everywhere in google. I found everything else I didn't want to know about google.
I will try your ideas out, thanks
