disable safari

I prefer too use explorer than safari. but whenever i click a link in a an e-mail its safari that loads up. also after re-installing OSX safari no longer shows a page when a link is clicked, just the app starts then nothing, i have to force quit.

any help much appreciated.

System Prefrences > Internet > Web > Default Web Browser: Explorer (or whatever you want)

Yes, and from just messing with Safari a few days ago, you can also set that up within the Safari preferences window as well.
