Hello all,

How can I restrict an user (with limited access) in XP pro from moving desktops icons.

I want those icons to be fixed in place and unmoveable. I don't want to use a 3rd party software like PC-R dist to copy images each time.

Thank you

you could try running gpedit.msc, it might be in there somewhere.

Okay
start - run
gpedit.msc

enable theese

Under User configuration\administrative templates\desktop

Here's two options to use

-----------------------------------------------------
Prevents users from saving certain changes to the desktop.

If you enable this setting, users can change the desktop, but some changes, such as the position of open windows or the size and position of the taskbar, are not saved when users log off. However, shortcuts placed on the desktop are always saved.
-----------------------------------------------------

Prevents users from adjusting the length of desktop toolbars. Also, users cannot reposition items or toolbars on docked toolbars.

This setting does not prevent users from adding or removing toolbars on the desktop.

Note: If users have adjusted their toolbars, this setting prevents them from restoring the default configuration.

Also, see the "Prevent adding, dragging, dropping and closing the Taskbar's toolbars" setting.
-----------------------------------------------------

You can prevent them making saved, persistant changes. But you cannot stop a temporary icon placement during a session.

Thank you all.

What settings disables the ability to prevent moving icons already on desktop? I tried a whole lot of combination from the gpedit.msc with no success.

I did find some shareware that does it ....
