We have a very basic and small network configuration and do not want or need DNS. We can get by with just a hosts file, I think.
) During the network configuration, if I leave the DNS entry blank and finish the configuration, W2000 automatically puts the gateway address in for the DNS entry. The gateway address is that of our Raptor Firewall. I have DNS turned off on the firewall. It appears that you have to use DNS if you want to use W2000. Is this correct?
The W2000 server does need to communicate with one of our servers in the DMZ (outside the firewall). The server isn't really even used as a server. When needed, a person will log directly into the server (at the server console) and run one application that pushes and pulls data to the server in the DMZ. Any thoughts/recommendations are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
yowza
