I think I've figured out part of a problem I've got with adding users to domains. The pc's that don't join the domain have other 2000 machines listed as there master browser. Now I need to turn off browsing services on the 2000 machines and let DNS handle the naming stuff. Glen A. Johnson

hey Glen, quick suggestion, you don't have to turn off the browser service if you don't want to. You can import this registry change to your client machines to disable browse mastering...[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters]
"IsDomainMaster"="FALSE"
"MaintainServerList"="No"

Thanks. The IsDomainMaster=FALSE was ok, and the MaintainServerList was set to auto. I changed it to no, and re-booted, and recived the error message, the computer browser service terminated with service specific error 2550. One question, why not set IsDomainMaster = true? Glen A. Johnson

I assumed that you did not want the clients to be browse masters, thus the FALSE setting for IsDomainMaster. As for the event log error, that's actually normal when you set MaintainServerList to NO and still have the Computer Browser service set to Automatic.

I was trying to disable browser servers, but it was comuter browser that I needed to disable. Also, you were right on the money with the FALSE and NO. Thanks. Glen A. Johnson
