I have created a directory on a NT workstation which if for temperature logging. I want the hardware that is attached to the machine to be able to write files to this directory with the current user logged but I don't want the user to be able to delete them.
I have set up the file permissions to be (Add & Read) but if the current user creates a file in the directory, then it would appear that the user inherits the rights to delete the file (I do not want this).
Can someone assist here please. The basis for this is audit trail and once a file has been created, it cannot be modified or deleted.

Try adding the permission "Read" to "Creater/Owner" on the directory...

Not sure if it will work, but it sounds like the Creator/Owner has full control permissions. Specifically setting what access that person has got may help.

I must apologise dhawthorn. I initially did reply to this but my reply has not appeared. I just wanted to say thanks as your suggestion worked a treat.

Cheers.
