I'm rebuiding a PC that will have Windows XP Pro as the OS. Part of the mobo manufacturer's instructions for what to do after a fresh OS install (had to do it from the XP Pro CD since I have no recovery disk with device drivers) is to install the Windows XP Pro Service Pack 1 (which is on the CD itself but I'm sure there's a more current one, 1a perhaps?) and Direct X 8.0. I know that both are available via download on the Microsoft website but since this PC isn't online yet (will be once I get to the step where I have to install the device drivers, ie NIC) that does me no good. I also know that I could pay to have the CDs sent to me but if I can avoid going that route, I will. Is there someway to download both (mainly Direct X) to my hard drive and then burn them to a CD?

I seemed to have found the answer to the DirectX 9.0 portion of my question at downloads.microsoft.com.
I'm now looking into the Service Pack 1a thingy but any feedback/input would be greatly appreciated.

Thx!

Xp sp1a "network" download .
Press the go button (with right language) on this page and you will get the whole sp1a 134MB .
Burn the file to a cd and you are set.
(remember to enable the xp firewall before going on-net
only takes some minutes to get infected with the blaster worm if you don't)
