Is there a way? Can you transfer to vmail by pressing sometype of shortcode then the dss button for a user? The dss is user "joe smith". I have set #xxxx and #N - voicemail collect to manually do this, but cannot get it to work with the dss field?

THKS,

Create or use the following system shortcode.

Code: *55*N#
Number: #N
Feature: VoicemailCollect

Under the user's button programming, set the following:

Action: Dial
Telephone Number: *55*

Label the button VM Trnsfr for example.

With your caller on the line, press Transfer, VM Transfr, the DSS key, followed by the # key. This will effectively drop the caller into the DSS destination VM.

One problem however worth nothing. If the destination extension is busy, the DSS key functions differently. As a result, the aforementioned procedure will not work under such circumstances.

I believe your best bet, assuming you're using VMPro, is to opt for a new VMPro Module. The procedure is outlined in a number of threads. An example can be found here.

VM resures User name not extn number!

short code #666 (or whatever)
TN "#Joe Smith"
Fature: VM collect

Some versions of VM pro will accept Extn. numbers but this is not garanteed & would not be supported

While I certainly agree with your post IPGuru, I don't know that it's entirely applicable to this thread. The question is whether a VM Transfer action can be performed through the use of a DSS key.

The DSS key would in fact be programmed with the action "User" and the number field as the %username%. The fact that the system short code is using a variable of "N" I would think is irrelevant as it will be listening for the DSS key value to be passed to it - which of course is not an extension but in fact a name.

Are you saying that IP Office is in fact converting the User action assigned to the DSS key to an extension in order to complete the transfer and thus *may* not be supported...?

Just want to make sure I understand your post. Thanks.

I am fairly cartain that pressing a dss key will override the short code. It cannot be used as a parameter.

You could program a direct VM Drop DSS key:
Action: VoicemailCollect
Number #<UserName>
