From UK I have set a shortcode to

Shortcode #4XXX
Dial #4N
Route Default

Feature VoiceMailCollect.

Should this work on a 4 digit extension?

Also could I then put a key onto the receptions handset. I guess it would only be a Dial #4

No this should not work

to perform a mailbox drop the shortcode need to have the UserName not ext number

if you want to be able to select an extn number to leave a msg for you will need VM Pro.

It is posible to retrieve a Msg form any mailbox (provided a passsword is sert) with the following

SC: 666 (or anything else)
TN: "?Anonymous"

Is this to transfer or leave voicemails directly to anyone's mailbox without ringing them ?

If so I know this works but is unsupported by avaya as ipguru pointed out
