I have 12 MICS switches with fast RAD. I need to backup each one. I am using Norstar Manager 3.5 on an XP laptop. Whan I DO get connected, I have no problem. I have had little luck direct connecting to any of the RAD's. The message I get is "No reply fron RAD". If I try long enough and click RETRY enough times, I MAY get lucky and get connected.

Is the problem the direct connect cable I am using? I have a Belkin I purchased from Office Depot. Is there a specific cable I need to be using?

Or is the problem elsewhere?

Direct connect locally. I have just downloaded the latest NRU RAD IP-Agent. Still not connecting. Tried another DB9 direct pinout cable, no luck.

Hopefully, your laptop has a true serial port, and not a USB converter. Also, try connecting at 9600 baud. The direct connect is usually the easiest connection to make.

I have used the serial port to connect my OmniScanner. ANd I have everything set at 9600.

Do you have flow control set to none?
I have this same trouble with one system. I can press the IRAD feature (I think it's feature 9**) and communicate with the IRAD in system programming, but when I connect directly with it, nothing. This particular system is a copper KSU that has upgraded software.

Thanks for the feedback. Still no luck. I am currently trying to get into a RAD that is not connected to a switch. I should still be able to make a connection, correct?

BAD RAD!!!! The Rad I was trying to connect to must be bad. I loaded 3.7 on a Win98 laptop and went to one of my branches. I connected first time, every time.

Now to try it with my XP machine.

Thanks for the help.
