OK, It turns out that the printer I purchased (not purchased through Micros) doesn't have a Micros IDN interface board. I do have a couple of "IDN components kits" that came with prior like-model printers purchased through Micros, but this seems complicated to install. So, I tried swapping out an interface card from another Micros TM-U220B printer and putting it in the new printer, and it still doesn't work! What is happening here? I did a diagnostic test on it, and compared it to a diagnostic test on a functioning Micros/Epson TM-U220B printer, and the only major differences were:
Original printer: "Interface:Full duplex RS422 XON/XOFF
New printer: "Interface: Full duplex RS485 Xon/Xoff
Original printer: "All tests passed."
New printer: "All tests finished."
Baudrate, device type, dip switch settings, Loop back with test plug (FAIL for both), are all the same. Both say device number= 2. Should they have different device numbers?
