Digital port tester

Ok all you guru's, do any of you know of any type of test plug that you could hook up to a digital port to make a test intercom or voice call with a butt set. I carry a digital set around with me for testing but it would be nice if they made some kind of unit that you could use with your butt set.

If you can find a LA 85 port tester those are pretty reliable. You can't make calls to or from it but it has LEDs that tell you if your good or not. It works with single pr, 2 pr, and hybrid ports.

Try the vendor you buy your telephones and equipment from first, I was suprised at the various equipment they carry. When I needed a new tone wand I called mine and she found one for me. This will save you a lot of hassle calling different places and having them try to sell you the moon ! Also, Iv'e used a voice and data company for various equipment (they use the tester your talking about) all the time.

They don't make them anymore I've been told. Try surfing the web ... or some of the bigger telcom distributors like cdw, etc.

If you find a source for them let us know. I will eventually loose or break mine.

someone made them for AT&T back in late 80's in Arizona it was called
Port Tester LA 85 Comcode 105138424, but i doubt if the comcode is any good anymoe
