Any words of wisdom for DM? I have not installed any yet, but have a customer wanting it. About 48 digital sets and about 13-14 mobile users in a campus environment.
Looks expensive.
Nortel said about 30% less than Companion. But who remembers the original price of that stuff. In US$...
A starter bundle with a 320 controller, 2 BS & 6 handsets ~ $5500 or so. Handsets about $325 each with all the parts and BS about $575 each
Check out these guys for a whole list of parts & pieces
Thanks sprucegrover. I had googled to the site you mentioned.
Has anyone installed it yet?
Kind of wondering about pitfalls.
Also, does anyone know if it deploys kind of like the Companion did?
I don't trust new products as much as I used to.
Word on the street is that Digital Mobility is not reliable.
Handsets break on first drop requiring replacement etc...
System uses 2.4 GHz frequency so it will not likely have as good a range as a 928 MHz Companion.
Also I am told that the volume in the handset is quite low and unsuitable for noisy environments.
No first hand experience this is only heresay.
Spectralink still offers a great solution for wireless on Norstar/BCM.
We're in the process of installing DM in a prison. Even the demo kit is hard to set up. I'll let you know how it goes. So far, I'm not overly impressed.
The DMS to be much greater distance in reception then that of companion.
Deployment works different since you do not need as many base stations nor do you need to space them as close.
They did have an issue with background noise being too amplified giving the low volume impression that I recall and believe it has been fixed.
