Differential Backup

Hello,
Can any on explain the process for setting differential backups in ArcServe? I assumed that I would only neeto set up one Full backup, clearing the archive bit, and another backup job that was set to Differential but the differentials either don't run or only run for a couple of days.

Unfortunately, its ArcServe 7.0.
