What would be the best way to keep the full copy on the disk?
Right now I have 3 FSD's setup in the diskpool, 2 day retention period, running a full backup everynight.

To switch to a differential backup I'd like to be able to keep that full backup on an FSD for quick access.

I guess I could manually copy the backup files from the FSD to another pool or just another folder on the array. Is there a recommended method for this?

Setup 5 fsd's? I think I'd run out of diskspace doing that though...

I'm using tapecopy to copy each night's backup run to tape to keep offsite overnight.

There is not standard for this type of stuff. To keep the weekly full it might pay to add another volume.

So what is the standard for setting up a differential backup? I'm guessing if you're strictly using tapes it'd be easier, but by using the FSD's and overwriting them it can get a little more complicated.

You could use append or append GFS - although I always think this a little too much like putting all your eggs in one basket.

Figure the # of virtual tapes needed for the job and then you will have to create that many FSDs. Just like tapes they will go into the media pool and so the job will automatically overwrite them.
