I installed XP from ME my dialup worked fine in ME.
Now when I use the dialup the modem dials I can hear
some static but I never get the handshake. I have tried
different numbers same thing no handshake. My 98 pc
logs on fine with the same phone numbers.
Any Help Please
I have a HP Pavilion 7855 1 gig/128/20 meg hd/1 cdr/ 1cdrw
I beleve my ISP is NT

If this posted twice i'm sorry

Did you install updated modem drivers? Perhaps the one you were using isn't compatible with XP.

I tried 3 drivers went back to the OME. The modem
does dial the number and the ISP picks up?

Well there is the option of uninstalling XP formatting the HARD DRIVE and starting over. Did you change to NTFS file system?
ME is so buggy, I would have got rid of it completely!!!

Us ually if you just reformat the hard drive and use a boot disk or boot from the CDROM, you can install the upgrade without installing ME again. At some point it says there is no windows installed and you just put ME into the CDROM drive for verification. If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.
