I installed XP from ME my dialup worked fine in ME.
Now when I use the dialup the modem dials I can hear
some static but I never get the handshake. I have tried
different numbers same thing no handshake. My 98 pc
logs on fine with the same phone numbers.
Any Help Please
I have a HP Pavilion 7855 1 gig/128/20 meg hd/1 cdr/ 1cdrw
I beleve my ISP is NT

Something you could try after first checking that your current XP modem and driver is compatible with XP, and the driver is up to date .

Using you XP CD on your 98 machine, run the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard and transfer the settings for Dial-Up. (You can save them to either floppy or CD).

Delete your Dial-Up file from Network Connections in XP. Then run the Transfer Wizard on XP and transfer the 98 Dial-Up settings.
