I found this thread but it didn't help.

-I have exts 366 and 822 both ringing when the external # for 822 is dialed. Dialing the external # for ext 366 results with a dead line.

-internal calls to 822, only rings 822. internal calls to 366, only rings 366.

-internal calls from 822, display 822. internal calls from 366, display 366.

I checked the answer DN on 366 and it's not assigned.

Are you talking about a direct-dial (DID) line? ie. 555-555-5366 (for ext 536) & 555-555-5822 (for 822)?

If so, check your lines to be sure that the RECV'D digits are setup properly, and that the line (ie line157) is setup for the proper extension.

yes, I'm referring to direct-dial. when 555-555-5822 is dialed, both ext 822 and 366 rings. But when dialing 555-555-5366, all I get is a dead line.

internally however, ext 366 functions like all the others.

Go into system programming.

Terminal & Sets -> (ext 822) -> Line Access -> Line Assignment -> SCAN

Take a look at the assigned line numbers.

If you then go into ext 366, you probably have the same line assignment as 822.

You need to check out your Lines, check the RECV'D digits (ie 366), then assign that line (through Terminal & Sets) to the proper extension.

So, in this case, you want to REMOVE the assigned line from 366 (the one that rings when calling 822), and ADD in the line that has the RECV'D digits for 366 (Appearances 2).

Hope this helps.

thanks bwtc! you were right, they both had the same line assigned. I was able to remove the line assignment from 366. so now it doesn't ring when 555-555-5822 is dialed.

but I'm not sure what you mean by checking the RECV'D digits for 366.

nevermind, I found the RECV'D digits that were available and assigned one to 366.

thanks again for the help!
