I had a customer ask me to help them with some problems on an old Meridian system last night. I was able to get everything working to their satisfaction, but I left scratching my head on one thing. When dialing extension 31, which has a cordless phone connected to an ATA, the cordless phone does not ring, but, instead, extension 23 rings. You can call extensions from the cordless phone with no problems, and you can call outside by dialing 9...no problems.
Now, I'm sure the number one problem is my lack of familiarity with the Meridian system (I work with newer MICS and CICS regularly), but I went through every menu option I could on the system, and found nothing that would cause this behavior. Forward no answer and Forward on busy were both set to none (this behavior happens regardless of whether the cordless phone is in use).
They had plenty of unused DN's, so we got around the problem by moving the ATA to 33. It receives calls as expected now.
I'd just love to know what I missed. I went in using **CONFIG, so I would think that would have given me all of the menus. System Version reported SP: 30MVJ20 DR5 RTP.
Unfortunately, I had no manual to look at. Did I miss something easy?
