I want to monitor our DHCP Servers ability to Issue Addresses, I found a tool for linux call DHCPING it's a linux tool which is great as my monitoring is through linux, however I have followed the guide on running this but never get a response from the server, i have tested dhcp's ability to hand out addresses with a std laptop so its working to the subnet in question.

Can dhcping obtain a dhcp address from a windows machine or is it linux dhcpd only ?

I Believe that i have resolved this now, Understood the Instructions as using a static IP address on the nic and making a dhcp request using the nics mac address which was failing, it turns out that the way this app works is by looking in the dhcp server for a mac address matching the one on the nic that already has a lease, if there is a match then it responds, hence that tests if the dhcp server is running - it has to respond to the request with the matching mac.
