Hi, I am having a problem with DHCP, I believe. I restarted the Server that is running DHCP and now users who were not in yesterday cannot get logged in. We have figured out that the client p.c.'s(all win2k) are not recieving IP adresses. We think recociling the dhcp server will help, but want to know if this will disconnect users currently signed on.

Make sure that your scope is big enough for all the users requesting an address

Thanks for the quick reply. We have approximately 65 leases available in the scope.

Try the reconcile command, it will not disconnect user's who already have a lease, it will check for inconsistencies between the registry and the database, i.e the registry says its leased the database says that its not.

How long is your lease?

What happens if you release, renew from the client?

The "escope" is a max number of IP released from the DHCP server???

thanks for helps

Our lease is for 3 days and yes I have tried releasing and renewing from the clients. Thanks again.

Update: Tried to reconcile...no good. My boss wants me to call M$oft but I think we should try to reboot the server one more time or change the lease expiration date. What do you think?

Do you get an error when you release and renew the Client?

Thanks for all the help. Just wanted to let you all know what happened with this situation. Well the story goes like this: We installed a Portmaster 3 and gave it an IP address pool of about 40 IP's. Well one of those IP addresses was being used by the second NIC on our DHCP server. Now I don't know why this would cause this to happen exactly but it did.
