DHCP leases consumed!?

Windows 2000 Server SP3 system (hosting DC, DHCP, DNS).The scope has been active, without error, for years.

As soon as leases become available, they're being instantly consumed by some dark force. Basically, they're regstering the IP address to name (i.e., 10.1.1.100 registers to 10.1.1.100) and attains a unique ID of 26 digits which I've never before seen.

This is probably quite simple...any ideas? Thanks!

I would seriously check for a virus somewhere...

The scope has been active, without error, for years.

So, what has changed? Did you check your event logs around the time the problem started? What happens when you do a trace rt to the dark forces ip address? Good luck.
