DHCP issue, I'm stumped

We are setting up a DHCP server and are running into issues. We want to have more ip address so we have setup two scopes and entered them into a superscope. The scopes are:
172.16.7.1-172.16.7.254
172.16.8.1-172.16.8.254

Server ip is 172.16.7.6

Ip addresses ge assigned no problem. The issue happens when the ones isnt he 7 range get used up and the clients begin getting the 8's. The 8's cannot ping any systems with the 7 addresses except for the gateway server. We put a second ip address on the DHCP servers card with an 8 address but that didn't help either.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

What subnet mask are you using for these scopes?

Change the mask from 255.255.255.0 on the router to that of the DHCP scopes superscope mask. Your router address only knows about the 172.16.7.0 network. 172.16.8.0 is a separate network and requires a router to pass traffic to the 7 network. I would think that 255.255.254.0 would do thie trick. To be sure, run it through a subnet calculator.

Yes, WHOHEARD, the 255.255.254.0 is the right mask to go with - gives you 512 hosts/subnet (unless you need more addresses), but you cannot supernet the subnets you use now.
You can do 172.16.6.1 - 7.254 or 172.16.8.1 - 9.254.
