We have a new win2k dhcp server that is replacing an older one. We have it authorized properly and it't "sort of" working.

When we release and then renew we get an error message.

"An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : Access is denied."

this only happends on our lan adapters..

give it a few min (like 5) and suddenly you have an address..

wifi adapters are able to renew without issue.

any ideas?

I would start with checking the cabling. If wireless does not have a problem, then wires do. Just a thought.

we can bring up the old server and everything comes back to life without issues.

Thanks for the stab though... all help is greatly appreciated...

Ok, then, look for bad packets being sent out by the new server. I've had a brand new server that had one of two nics going bad. Would work for a while, then people started having issues signing on to the network. Just a thought.
