Does anyone have any useful links or references re. how to configure a netgear DG834G router for VPN. I cannot seem to find anything.

In desperation...

Cheers

When you say configure for VPN what do you mean?

The DG834G has VPN passthrough but cannot initiate VPN tunnels itself.

What are you trying to achieve?

I have a router and three PC's attached to it. I have one static IP address (which the router has taken) - the PCs are then given dynamic subnet IP by the clever router.

However I want to allow one of my PCs to act as a web server and to do this I believe is need to configure it to allow tunneling over a port ?

I might have been able to phrase this question a little better if I knew a bit more but the VPN information in the DG834G reference manuals is ZILCH!

The net results might be that a domain name such as point to 111.222.333.444:1723 (111.222.333.444 being the single static IP of the router).

In much need of any advice.

p.s. maybe I can't even do this - I'm not running server, just plain old W2K.

Cheers

Right, its not VPN then.

AFAIK you need to go to the PORTS or SERVICES section of the DG834G and open up port 80 and forward it to the IP of the web server host - this will then forward incoming web traffic to the webserver.

Not sure of the full security implications of this but I'm sure someone else will help.

For mapping a domain name to the IP address of the router I think you'd need to speak to your ISP and/or setup a dynamic DNS service.

Hope this helps!
