Our network is thinking about using a few DFS for particular files. I have been doing some research on the subject and can't find the answer to my last question.
My network has 6 remote sites connected via frame relay with two of those connections very slow. At both of those slow FR connections is a file server to help reduce the communication to the main servers housed at our main building. I am thinking about using DFS on two existing network folders that all users access heavily. I am wanting to use DFS as a way to keep the files on the servers at the slow remote sites updated while having only thoes remote users accessing their file server. My question is if I create the two DFS can I ensure that only my remote users will access the DFS root through their file server. I am trying to reduce traffic across the frame relay connection becuase we are having serious speed issues and have no money in the budget for a faster connection right now. I am hoping that I can get the file access to where the only communication over the frame relay is the server replicating and no user traffic. I do not want the remote users or LAN users crossing that connection becuase of DFS load balancing.
If this is possible could you explain how I do this? I am preparing to set up a test in my practice LAN in a few days.
Thanks for any help.
Matt
