I have searched the vast ends of the internet for an answer to this problem, basically we have a DFS Share \\domain\share which is mapped as a drive letter on users laptops as M:
Files within "M:" are made available offline via explorer, the synch takes place, all seems ok. The user then shuts down, which forces a synch and leaves the office.
Here's where the problem arises, they power their machine up offline to our network and try to view the offline files. An error is sent back saying that the machine is not available, and we do not have sufficient privelages to access the data.
Now, i have found a work-around where you type the full DFS location into explorer bar (\\domain\share), you can access the offline files, if you then go back to My Computer, and try to access the offline files via the mapped drive (M
it works fine.
It's a bizarre problem, and rather puzzling. The laptops are running Windows XP Pro SP1 and server with DFS is running server 2000.
The only thing i have found on the internet is a registry change, but that did nothing to fix the problem.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as i'm kind of scratching my head at the moment.
Cheers
Ian
