Trying to get an HP-UX device driver or fix to allow my Compaq TurboDat AutoLoader (which uses a Seagate Peregrine CTL96G-S drive) to automatically increment to the next tape after the current tape backup is complete.

My HP-9000 (HP-UX 10.20) sees the device as an Archive 4586XXX 28887-XXX device, which is correct but does not increment tapes. I've already patched with PHKL_16751.

Thanks!

Tom,
I don't know about using these drives on HP-UX but I have been using them on Netware servers for about 3-4 years. I use CA ARCServe to run backups and you have to purchase the Optional Library software to use the Autoloader function. Also the Autoloader device is LUN 1 and the Tape Drive is LUN 0, I had to use a switch to get my host adapter to recognize the devices correctly. The tape drive is on the SCO Unix hardware compatability list but I have not yet tried this. From what I have found out Archive designed this unit for OEM sale, thats why the Compaq name on most of them. Then they were bought out by Conner then Seagate snapped up Conner. The only differences I have seen in the drives besides the color of the face plates is in the firmware versions. Support info on the Web is hard to find even on Segate you have to dig for it.

HTH
Ken
