Dear All,

First of all please dont think i'm stupid asking this question, i just wanna hear it from someone else...

I am thinking of developing a picture viewer appication for a friend, which look would be more important than functionality. I know VB fairly well (mainly database stuff). But i'm not sure if this is the right language to develope in.

Just to give you an idea, i would be looking to get the same sorta look as alot of modern appications, (eg MSN6, ICQ, WinAMP, Adware, ZoneAlarm etc...) with the rounded edges pretty pictures etc.

I know C++ would be the first choice to develop in (but i don't know it), i was just wondering if that sorta thing could be done in VB or in any other similar BASIC langauge, (dark basic etc..)

Would .net be an option, (the app would need to be compatible with win9x as well as XP)

Can anyone offer any advise on this?

Cheers

Ian

Ian,

There is a control that I use by Connetica software in the UK that lets you design your form to any shape you want, round, rounded edges, triangles etc. The control is tiny and best of all FREE.

All you need is a basic working knowledge of GIF images, which, if you don't, i'm sure you'll find help on here...

The control was recommended by a Tek-tips user, but i can't find the thread... (If it was you, Pipe up!)

This goes a long way to making pretty apps.

Hope this helps.

That would be me Jag... I'm glad to see it's getting around. I pretty much don't develop without it!
