Hi everyone,

I look after a group of Windows 98 users connected to a NT4 network.

One of the users has a strange problem whereby the toolbar on which the Start button is located does not show the list of running applications nor the Quick Launch area.

I've tried removing the user's local profile and reloading it from the NT server to no effect. If you log in as him on another workstation the desktop toolbar works fine.

Any ideas where to look to find a solution?

Regards,
Jay/UK

I agree with Yizhar. Definitely related to IE. Remove/re-install IE. Should correct the problem.

Hi,

Please advise - how do you remove IE?

What I did was to upgrade IE 5.01 to 5.5. Thought this may fix it.

I await your reply.

Kind Regards,
Jay/UK

Hi,

You suggest removing/re-installing IE, but I don't know how to remove IE (I didn't think you could actually remove it).

In any event, I am sure the problem is linked to his roaming profile, because if you log on as somebody else the menus are fine (if IE was corrupt, I would have thought the problem would remain).

How do I remove his roaming profile from NT, so it recreates from his local profile, so he keeps the settings he needs/wants?

I would appreciate your assistance.

Regards,
Jay/UK
