I have a question.
I dont want to do this just yet but I would like to know how it works.
I have a windows 2000 server and workstation.
Can I control what the user on the workstation see's on there desktop IE icons, programs, from the server.
So that there setting stay on the server and not in documents and setting/theuser on the local machine.

Well - sort-of..
;)

You wouldn't want it to work that way for a number of reasons. Instead, there are policies and security that are designed to accomplish this task. Mandatory user profiles are basically a read-only environment for users, and any changes they make to their settings will not be saved.

There's a whole art involved in tweaking & optomizing a network, and policies and profile management is one of them.

So! Basically - yes. You can control what they see, and only you can change their settings if you want.

Good luck! Please let Tek-Tips members know their posts were helpful. Thanks!
