Does anyone know where I can get good quality silent or very quiet psu's to fit ATX DESKTOP cases ?

Doesn't matter what country, everything is manufactured in Asia. If you are looking for High End Power Supplies, here are a short list of vendors

Antec
Enermax
Sparkle
Vantec

Don't use the Enermax with Intel boards. There are serious issues. It will cause your keyboard to lock up.

If you want a silent Power Supply, I recommend the Antec TruePower 380 as an entry level. You will have to determine your own personal power requirements.

It matters if you live in the uk and people recommend vendors in Australia.

i say go for

Antec 550

I brought one from a trade fair for £30 but i think novatech.co.uk do them for about £38 or something.

Supurb PSU, but i wouldnt say quiet (too many fans).

There are 2 types of computer, the prototype and the obsolete!!

Several of the new Enermax range have a manual fan speed control knob on the rear so can be adjusted to a whisper.
Enermax are extremely high quality units, we sell them exclusively for those who want the best and in two years have never had one returned for any reason.
