This should be an easy one ... my Desktop is now empty, except for the background picture. I found the Desktop folder in the computer with all of the files in tact, but how do I get the Desktop back to display on the Desktop? Thank you.

Hi, have you tried to set the registry value to the right folder in:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

Desktop (REG_SZ): %PATH%

Hope this helps. Please let know if this resolve your issue

Jeff

Try checking the following Reg keys also:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\ClassicStartMenu

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HideDesktopIcons\NewStartPanel - are any of the GUID's set to a value of "1"?

Also:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer \NoDeskTop - if this is "1" all desktop icons will be removed

I am curious what happens if you right-click the Status bar at the bottom, and choose "Show the desktop."

or "Right-Click" desktop, "Arrange Icons by" and click "Show Desktop Icons"?
