I am trying to create a simple report in Desktop Intelligence to bring back all account numbers where the customer name starts with a 1 (accidentally overwritten). I know in Crystal reports you would use "customer name startswith "1"", but how do I do this in a Desktop Intelligence query?

I've managed to work this out for myelf!! I just need to use a wildcard character so the condition would read

Name matches pattern '1%'

meaning that the name can start with a 1 and be followed by any number of characters.

Good for you.
Be aware though that using wildcards will be a sure way of not being able to use indices on the specific object, which can result in very costly queries...

Actually, starts with works pretty well. Embedded strings are a nightmare. e.g.%1%
