Desktop Icons

When I first create an shortcut icon on my desktop, it has a pix that represents the site. Next time I turn on the computer, it reverts to the generic Windows icon. Is there a way to stop that from happening?

If you Right Click on vacant area of Desktop and choose Arrange Icons it will give you options to Show Desktop Icons or Lock Webb Items on Desktop.
