Desktop Display properties

Hi I have an issue that I cant resolve. If you right click on the desktop on your machine and choose PROPERTY and then DESKTOP where you get to choose the backround, you should see the pictures or features available for your machine.On mine, I have Win XP PRO SP2, the items are locked. It starts with ASCENT and then AUTUMN going down the list. On mine all are locked and I am unable to choose any.I have a blank screen. If I open an individual picture and right click to choose " SAVE AS DESKTOP BACKROUND" it does not work either.
I uninstalled the display drives and tried to update the driver with no change. Any idea on how to fix this issue?

Check the following location and see what is in there, see if you can open any of the files in "Preview" or with your Photo Editor, see if the Access Permissions are correct?

C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper

See if this thread helps, there are a couple of suggestions about Group Policy and using IEfix to look at.

Some general things to try.

See if System Restore will get you back to a restore point before your problem with Explorer.

Try Safe Mode (Do you have this problem in Safe Mode?).

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.
