I have a report that displays financial data by month (horizontally). The items are displayed vertically. I would like for this data to be printed on letter size paper. However some of the figures atre being truncated for some of the months. I know that I can change the size of the report to legal, but this is not what I want. How can I design the report to allow from Jan to June to Print on the first page, and July to Dec on the second?

Thanks,

cooleen

You could create two different reports, one for each half year, and then place the one as a subreport of the other. This is simple to do but takes twice as long to run.

There may be other options, but you will have to tell us more about how the report is structured. (ie, how are the columns created, are there groups in the report, are you using a cross-tab, what sections of the report are printing. ) Ken Hamady

Hi Ken,

1. The Report's Title and Column Headings are apart of the page header. The First Column is labeled, Type (Description), while the remaing columns are labeled from Jan to Dec, and the final column is the Totals Column. The Details Section of the Report is filled using database fields. Each column in hte section, is has a different database field.

2. The sections of the are Report Header, Page Header, Details,Report Footer A and B, and Page footer. There are no groups in the report.

3. I am not using cross tabs.

4. All sections of the report are being printed.

My problem is that because the figures can become big (like 10 digits or so), apart of them are truncated because the size of the field in the design of the report is too small. I know that I can decrease the font size or change the font type, but this does not solve my problem. I think it is impossible to squeeze 14 columns on a letter size paper with expanding figures and not experience some truncation of fields (especially if a readable size font is used).

Would you need me to email this report to you?

Thanks,
Cooleen

Cooleen,

If each column is a database field, then you are probably going to have to use a subreport for the second page(s). This is because you will have to go through the records twice.

Another possibility for you to consider is to display the data in $'000 rather than full dollars. I have found in the past that when numbers as large as you are talking about are displayed, people are really interested in the big dollars (ie $'000) and not the small stuff (ie $.c)
