HI,

How can i design a report in landscape. By default it's always on vertical format. The only way i found it's specify as printer "Adobe acrobat writer" and check orientation landscape, but when printing directly to printer back to vertical mode. I'm really lose about.

Any help please?

Crystal grabs the format from the default format of your default printer when you create a new report. The only way around it is to set your default printer to landscape.

In Crystal Reports,
File --> Printer Setup --> Click on Landscape

Don't worry, it only applies to the report you're working on.

Ok, I design the report by changing it ot landscape. But if I put the report in other enviroment with a different printer, the result is that the report doesn't print ok. Unless if i didn't make any mistake.

Isn't there any other way?. No body had to design a report in landscape and distribute it later with Crystal Report 8?

Here is my experience with this issue.

When you choose a default printer for report designing the report is saved with the printer and it's settings that you may have assigned to the report. Let's say I make a report and I choose an HP LaserJet 5000 as my default printer and I make it landscape mode. The report is saved with that printer and landscape mode. If I go to a computer that does not have the printer loaded onto it, Crystal will use the default printer on that computer but it will still print in landscape mode.

Here is the thing you need to remember. An HP LaserJet 5000 can print wider margins than say an HP LaserJet 4V. You have to think about designing the report for the lowest common denominator. In my environment I design all my reports so they will use the maximum margin allowance for an HP LaserJet 4V. This way I know they will print out on all the printers we have in the fashion intended.

Got it? Good.

That it is!!!

I've already get the same conclusion.

Thanks.

Another thing you could do is select a default printer and choose landscape or portrait mode.

Then go to File --> Page Setup

Uncheck "Use Default Margins"

For Portrait modes use the following;
Top = .50
Left = .25
Bottom = .50
Right = .50

For Landscape;
Top = .25
Left = .40
Bottom = .25
Right = .50

These margin settings should be the lowest common denominator for just about all laser printers.
