Hello,

Let me apologize in advance if this has been answered somewhere in the great archives. I just lack the knowledge to find it..

Question:
I have created a Access DB and have a backend .mdb for the data, and front end .MDE for the forms, etc.. What options are there out there for Access Developers to deploy there databases onto other systems that DO NOT have MS Access Installed.

Example, Somebody wants a copy of your DB, and you send it to them on CD and there is a SETUP/INSTALL file that copies the DB to the correct location and installs any and all objects/dlls/etc needed to run it..

Is this something that is available, such as InstallSheild or something along those lines?

Yep.

You need a copy of the MS Office Developers Toolkit.

This provides you with the facility to create your own installation files and bundle all of the necessary files into it.

Users who receive the CD containing the installation file will not need MS Access to run the application as all the MS Access runtime files can be bundled into the installation file as well.

The Developers Toolkit is the Access 97 answer. The equivalent for Access 2000 is the Office Developer Edition (ODE).

If you already have Office 2000 Premium Edition you can buy the Office Developer Tools add-on instead. It's essentially an upgrade to ODE.
