Hello gang,

I know this is the Windows 2000 Forum, however I do not know where else on this site to post this, so I thought I would try here since other admins may have come across this before or can direct me to a more relevant source.

I am trying to image some HP ML330 G3 servers that have eide raid in them. The OS is installed to my liking and Im trying to image them using image centre. I can create an image just fine and upload to a network share okay, however when I try to bring down the image, as soon as it completes the image dump I get the following error: error #1507 Bad File Record Signature. I do not have problems on any other machine only the ml330's and this the second image I have created to bring down and the second ml330 to try it on.

Since Symantec took over powerquest the available support is pretty crappy to say the least and I have been having a tough time tracking down this cause. The only information I was able to find relating to this error is about running chkdisk within windows, well thats irrelavent at this point since its not even in windows. I did disable the file system checking and bad sector checking for the restore of the image to ensure that was not a root cause under advanced properties, however it made no difference. Deploy Centre 5.5 is what were using here.

Any suggestions?

Thanks kindly!

CoreyWilson,

Well my friend, if you have managed to create an image and put it on a network share, then pull it down onto a server, then you have gooten futher along than me at that. I never could manage to get it to work and I had alot of help from powerquest, before symantec, enginneers. I can only get images to work if I put them on cdrom, which sucks since my image spans four cdroms. Needless to say, here is a couple of swiches that enable me to create the images. My servers also to have raid controllers and between the support engineers and my long hours, this was the only solution we could come up with:

Z:\pqimgctr.exe /IDE=off /NOCDR /CMD=Z:\script.txt /IMG=Z:\7100DT~1.PQI

I did manage to get this working. Believe it or not it was because I was using a bootdisk with an older network driver. I would have never thought that to be an issue since it was getting on the network fine and was uploading and downloading images, however that ended up being the problem beause using a different bootdisk with a newer netcard driver as suggested by a co-worker solved the problem.

Thanks for the help.

Corey,

Something else I just thought of:

If you have a 3COM nic in the HP ML330 G3, sometimes both clients have to talk at the same speed & Duplex level. You can force your clients link speed & deuplex if they have 3 COM's. I know that you are capable of getting the image down to the server already, but just a thought.
