Dependent projects not building automatically

I have a solution with a web project and a number of other projects which the web project is dependent on. Problem is the sub projects are not building automatically when I build the web project.

Does anyone know if there is something you can set in the solution file to enable these projects to be built automatically?

Do you have them checked in the Build / Configuration Manager?
