i demoted a domain controller yesterday and now i am getting LDAP and Topology errors in the event logs and no one can log into outlook. Seems Exchange has lost connection or cant get info from AD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Do you still have a GC, or was the DC you demoted the only GC? Exchange must have a GC to talk to.

Ok, never mind, all fixed.

The issue was, the DC that i demoted was also a DNS server. And during the demotion the scope on that server was also removed because it was AD integrated. Well, my exchange server was looking at that DNS for resolutions. I had a secondary DNS setup on the exchange server but i have read that unless the DNS server cannot be reached at all, like it is disconnected from the network, windows does not flow over to the secondary DNS server.

So, one little thing caused me headaches this morning. Oh well, i guess this is why i love my job!

PS....yeah i made sure my other two DCs were GCs.

Thank you for the reply.
