We are evaluating a move from our current server, an HP ML370G2 (Compaq), with Small Businss server 2003 / Windows server 2003 to A dell Server product. Our server has 1.75gb ram and this needs to be increased as well.

When we got our ML370, we had no Dell workstations or notebooks but now we have about 15 in all; there are still about 15 or so non-Dell clone machines. Most dells have windows xp pro and the non-dells are a mix of windows xp pro and windows 2000 pro.

What do people think of the dell servers and which might be a good replacement for the ml370g2 (which dates from December 2001).

Also are there any special features in the Dell servers that make managing the dell notebooks and workstations easier, beyond the Windows server 2003 network managing capabilities (roamining profiles, gpmc, folder redirection, etc)

Since we are using SBS we have exchange server 2003 on the same box. Has anyone recently made a move out of SBS to a regular windows server 2003?

Thanks for any help.

All I use is Dells, I have never had a problem with them, very relable. With the Dell systems they have a management package that comes with them, but I do not utilize them, I use the following.

Update: SUS avable for download at Microsoft
Group Policys
SMS : Remote controll of machines, and you can deploy other updates using this.

I prefer to utilize Group policys for most of my server needs to the workstations, understanding Group Policys can be the best thing for a network Admin.
