I got a problem with my keyboard. The driver often does not load properly and I have to reboot the PC until I can get it to work. I looked at event viewer and it indicated that the keyboard stopped working and the source of the problem was the "i8042prt Could not set the keyboard typematic rate and delay." that was a second event that mentioned "Could not set the keyboard indicator lights." also with the same source "i8042prt." Is this an indication of a port conflict?
Or the Keyboard driver needs to be replaced?
My OS is Windows Workstation NT 4.0, and I am running a Dell Pentium III PC fully loaded.

Thanks!

Cesar

I had a sort of similar problem with the Dell Quiet Key boards. I had five docking Latitudes with this unit which would always give an error on booting of "Keyboard Failure - Hit F1 to Continue". When you hit F1, the machine would boot and work fine. When I called Dell they had me run some diagnostics so they could deny all responsibility and then told me the board was working fine and to call back if the problem recurred. It didn't, so I figure they already knew what it was and didn't want to admit it -- not a first on their part by any means!

Have you tried another keyboard to see if you get the same error message?

Hope this helps -- good luck!
