I know my issue is simple but I am not able to figure it out. I have a refurb'd Dell Latitude CPi laptop that I am trying to load XP but constantly get the message of "No Boot Sector" in which case it prompts me to hit F1 for reboot or F2 to view CMOS.

I am thinking I need to simply create a boot disk but it has been a longtime since I have done this.... does anyone have a site that has the boot configs already to download?

Thanks. Aj

Try or get a Win98 boot disk that has CD support. [You won't need it for other than fdisk and format, start with FAT32.] There is no boot disk for WinXP. You might also look in the BIOS and see if the CD drive can be made bootable.

chances are your hard drive is dead

Thank you Berton and Hungster - hard drive was fine. The problem was, I over looked a setting in the BIOS which prevented the computer from booting off the HDD.

All is working now...

Thank you for your advice and responses.
