I have just re-installed 98SE onto a Dell Inspiron 7000 Laptop, when I shut the lid it doesn't suspend to disk just shuts down and reboots when the lid is opened.

I have enabled S2D in the BIOS and used PHDISK.EXE to create a S2D file as per instructions on the dell website, but it still doesn't work.

There is no option when choosing shutdown in 98SE to "SUSPEND", I assume that maybe some software is require by 98 to enable it to use S2D, but I can find no reference to such on the Dell site.

I have tried setting the APM Support to "Force APM 1.0 Mode" again with no change.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi thanks for replying so promptly

I did get that message before I had run the PHDISK, now I get don't.
