Dell gx270 bad caps...anyone still have these?

Anyone still have any of these going bad? I wondered if anyone had a slick way of still getting these bad mobo's honored by Dell even though they are out of warranty. I have a friend that is an Admin for a school close to here, he says he calls a guy at Dell and he ships him a new mobo no questions. Maybe he's blowing smoke up my rear, just wanted to see if others were doing this at all. I have had 6 go bad in the last 3 months. other then the bad caps, they were doing great. just a shame for these pc's to be laying here in my office going to waste.

This is the text of a message from a co-worker who has had two motherboards in two GX270s replaced no charge from Dell in the past few weeks. He is unavailable at the moment but I will post back if any additional information from him is available. I advise calling Dell and inquire about the entitlement program mentioned:

Just so you know, we have been seeing the capacitor issue on the P4 boards in the Optiplex GX270 machines that were purchased in March 0f 2004. The entitlement program is replacing them and will continue to do so until January 31, 2008

man i dont look forward to the hours of phone hell. but i guess it would be worth it to have 6 up and running pc's.

I have a bunch of GX280's with the same problem. Just had a couple of the boards replaced about 4 months ago. Glad to know they'll replace them till January, I have 4 or 5 more.
