dell drivers won't run

I just did a clean install of XP Pro on a Dell Vostro. I went to Dell's site, punched in the service tag and downloaded XP drivers. The chipset and video drivers will extract but won't run! When I browse to the exe file and run it, I ge an error. I've done this a dozen times and this has never happened. Any suggestions?

Do you get an error? Perhaps you need to update the MSI installer from Microsoft?

Check Event viewer if you haven't done so see if there's something informative there in relation to the driver exes.

I did read that the drivers should go in order. If I did not, is there a way to back out and start over?

They would still run and install regardless of order if things were working properly on your PC.

System Restore should take you back.

Or you could try this .REG entry a try to make executables work. I use this if malware prevents you from running executables.

Agreed, the order should not prevent the installers from running.

What error do you get when you try to run them?
