I'm deleting columns in a Word '97 (SR2) table. It is taking almost a minute to complete. I have highlighted maybe 6 columns, there are anywhere from 2 to 10 rows in the table(s). When I select Delete Columns, the highlighting disappears, my computer appears to lock up, with CPU useage hitting 100%, and then almost a minute later the column delete occurs. I'm running NT4 for an OS.

I've searched the knowledgebase (although briefly) and see nothing that looks like this situation. Has anybody had similar experience and hopefully a suggestion for remedying the situation?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Likely, corrupt tables, Dennis.

You could:

Try saving the file as RTF and reopening, tho I don't recall ever using that fix for tables in 97, so I'm not sure about it.

Send it to me, and I'll open it in XP and let it repair it or save as RTF and send back...
